Is this a windows or apple machine? Do you have a good, current virus protection program like Norton's 360 or similar that is up to date and runs automatically?

Clean the cat hair out of the fan! Overheating can sometimes cause a slow down.
Don't forget to purge your files. Cleaning up the disc is another common solution.
Is it just Chrome? Try a different browser.
Anything more technical is beyond me.

Thanks to both of you, already did those things but problem solved, ATT is our provider and previously had a problem and one of their techs told me to hold down the on/off switch and count to 10 and turn back problem would solve itself, he stayed on the phone to make sure it did, fortunately I wrote it down so I'd remember it, it worked all is well.

So I get a notice that windows 7 is no longer supported.
I downloaded windows 10 and somehow now it won't communicate with my Lexmark printer.
I did all the troubleshooting suggestions.
I believe a firewall is holding me up. Not sure how to jump over it!

Check for compatibility of your printer with Win10. Some older peripherals may need to have their software upgraded or, sadly, are not Win10 compatible.

Software's Self stimulus packages, I'll NEVER EVER use windows 10, ubuntu is my future OS. and I'll keep my needed software's Graphics and CAD that work on windows 7 on offline pcs or behind firewalls.
REMEMBER WHEN WE WERE SOLD MALWARE PREVENTING SOFTWARE that prevented companies from doing what Microsoft and Facebook openly do when collecting data on you?

I took it another step further, laser printer. No more ink!
How about toner cartridges? I have thought about an HP M454dw color laser printer but the toner cartridges are so expensive and I don't do much printing and I think they would dry up before I could use them up and it would end up costing about $9.99 to print one page.

I have two printers, a mono laserjet that does most of the work and a color inject for when we need color. The laser jet is fast and cheaper to run if you need only B&W copies. Both printers are fully networked (internal and even when out of the house) and can be sent jobs from computers, tablet, phone, etc.

laser printer uses toner cartridges btw. color is uber expensive. if i want a color print, mainly photos, i can send the file to walgreens or something.

there is NO way i would pay 9.99 to print a page of anything!

Me either, that is why I haven't bought a laser printer...I don't print enough to use up a toner cartridge before it would dry up/expire. E.g., if I pay $90 for a toner and only print 10 pages before it no longer works because it dries/expires it amounts to $9 a page. It is kinda the same way with the ink cartridges...I just had to change out the cartridge in my inkjet printer to print my tax return and the ink cartridge because it was 18 months past its expiration date and still showed more than 3/4 ink left but would not apply any to the paper. But at least they aren't as expensive as the toners.
