Daytona Beach, FL – The Daytona Beach Police Department is looking for two suspects they say tied up a female victim in her own car and then tried to set her and the car on fire. The victim told police that a man she could only identify as “Eric” and an ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Gibbon Agledor, duct-taped and zip-tied her to the steering wheel in her car before dousing her and the car with rubbing alcohol, then setting papers on fire.
Dispatch received the call on Thanksgiving evening, around 8:20 p.m., from a friend of the victim’s, saying the woman was secured in the car behind the Pollo Tropical on International Speedway Boulevard. Police found the woman and her car directly behind Horus Egyptian Restaurant and Lounge. The driver’s side door was open and the woman was on the floorboard, still attached to the steering wheel by one zip tie. They also found duct tape around her mouth and head and around her ankles.
One of the responding officers recognized the victim from an incident that had happened four days earlier. She told them that she was at a house in South Daytona with “Eric,” who she described as a light-skinned black man, heavyset, with brown eyes and black hair and who speaks with an accent and her ex-boyfriend, Agledor. They left the home with “Eric” driving her in her own vehicle and Agledor following in a red 4-door sports car.
“Eric” told Agledor he was going to “show him how to do it,” referring to an incident that happened the previous day (November 27). On that day, the victim said she was tied up at the Beville Road Wal Mart around 4 p.m. She would not give a description, because, she said, “If I say anything, he goes to jail then gets released and this happens all over again.” The victim was found in the trunk of her vehicle, her wrists, ankles, knees and mouth all wrapped tightly with duct-taped.
Officers say that the victim has been dealing with issues from Agledor and “Eric” since November 16, when Agledor made a scene at her place of work. There were other incidents on November 24 and 27. Officers say the victim first agreed to go the police station to make a statement on the November 28 incident, then decided she wanted to go home, get her things and leave town. They tried to explain that there are better options. Officers determined that the victim is incapable of making safe and rational decisions about her living conditions which create a great, imminent danger to her health, safety and welfare to her well-being. She was Baker Acted and transported to the hospital.
Anyone with information on Gibbon Agledor or “Eric” is asked to contact the Daytona Beach Police Department or call 9-1-1. Agledor has previous arrests for assault with a deadly weapon so he may be armed.
