Howard Stern

For decades I have told people that Howard Stern was not "really" the shock jock that was his "act" for so many years. I always thought that he was kind of a depressed individual who covered up with his "act"...that he found an avenue that worked and it seems I was right...all along (when my son was a teenager he used to listen to his radio show; he thought he was hiding it from me; but, I was a firm believer that everything couldn't be treated as a big deal, because if too many things are a big deal those things that really are a BIG DEAL don't seem as BIG.)

I was never a fan of him, going all the way back to when he was on NY AM radio in the early 70s, found him a little vulgar and childish, not entertaining IMO

Been listening to him on and off since Hartford and NY.
He has mellowed over the years. Just the past 10 he’s lost a couple of regulars to death. His marriage to Beth has also made him rethink many things.

I never listened to him as a fan, and only occasionally caught bits of his radio shows. He used to (may still for all I know) have a TV show on at 10 o'clock on the FOX (entertainment, not news) network and once I went into my bedroom to get ready for bed years ago...maybe 15 or so and turned my TV on and it was on the FOX channel and he was on and talking to Ozzie Osborne's daughter, Kelly who was still a teen and just starting her own career; he was asking her about her father's sexual escapades and something about his "private parts" and I thought how disgusting that was and turned it over to another channel and knowing that he had daughters I couldn't imagine how he do that.

Anyway, I just always felt that most of his vulgarity and actions was basically an "act" and not his real persona. I remember reading a magazine article or something many years ago when his daughters were very young and he was still married to his first wife and he was saying that he was "melancholy" and spent most of his time held up in his home's basement office brooding and that he was very unpleasant to be around.
