Oh my gosh!!! Hot! Hot! Hot! I was sorta craving Chinese food, especially an egg roll so I decided to order my dinner tonight using Bite Squad. I always just order either chicken and broccoli or beef and broccoli combinations meals which include the main dish, fried rice and an egg roll. It is a bargain as I can always eat three times on one meal plus an extra egg roll. For lunch today I had a sandwich which had fresh spinach leaves on it so that was all the "green leafy veggie" I could eat today since I am on Warfarin and have to restrict the amount of high Vitamin K foods, I figured I'd change up my usual order...so, instead I ordered a General Tso's Chicken meal. I didn't realize that it would burn holes in the insides of my cheeks, my tongue and lips. It was tasty and even after mixing it with the rice, it was so so so HOT! I think that in my mind, I may have confused the General Tso's and the Sesame chicken dishes. I'm going to put what I didn't eat in the fridge; but, I'm not sure that I'll be brave enough to eat it again tomorrow even if the blisters are healed. The online menu on Bite Squad did not show which dishes were HOT!

General Tso's is a spicy dish. At our local place we have to ask for extra hot.
Your place should be able to adjust the spiciness.

Yes, I know that now! It was my ignorance that I didn't know that it is a "HOT!" dish. My neighbor and I had a conversation about "spicy vs just HOT" just last week. To me, spicy doesn't necessarily just mean HOT!. Spaghetti sauce is spicy as it often contains basil, oregano, thyme; and rosemary is used to spice up a variety of foods that are not HOT!. I do often use a a pinch or two of red pepper flakes to punch up my soups and such a little or use a can of Rotel tomatoes...but, I've never been a fan of just HOT! for HOT! sake where it makes your eyes water, nose run and mouth feel like it is on fire.

Thankfully, no hemorrhoids here...

I will never do this to myself again! I needed some high Vitamin K veggies, so I took some broccoli florets and mixed them in with the fried rice, cut up the chicken pieces into tiny little piece and heated it all up in the microwave. Mixed it all together and took a few bites and still burned like the hinges of hades. Nose started running and after using about a dozen tissues, said, "forget this"....I picked the broccoli out ate it and made a peanut butter sandwich and threw out more than half the dinner I had order last night. Both last night and tonight I drank a 20-oz bottle of water and a 16-oz bottle of Diet Coke with this fiery dish that some people call, "food."

I prefer my spicy dishes to be prepared to the chef's taste in heat, more often than not the gratuitously added chili peppers add little to the flavor and much to the discomfort. hot peppers that don't have a distinct flavor are a stupid macho game. I tolerate heat in exchange for great tastes, not to search the taste buds off.
