Well they evidently do not have solid numbers however I did come accross some info:
from http://www.ci.palm-coast.fl.us/CityDocs/Departments/Finance/Budgets/2010/2010 Proposed Budget.pdf page 18 is the tennis budget......

The expense out for salary's and expenses of 286,000 dollars
they anticipate a gross income of 168,000 dollars an and are going to transfer an additional 125,000 dollars from another source?
Like football, firedepartment, police protection, who knows but from another government program which by the way likely means its is coming out of your property tax's........

So we spent 2 million on courts, we now subsidize by a minimum of 125,000 per year to cover salaries and expenses for the year.......

How long would you be able to stay in business if you budgeted a 125,000 dollar unknown funding source, to BREAK EVEN, not incuding your 2 million dollar capital investment?

(My guess is about 1 month if you could get the bank to give you the money)
Thanks to "OUR LEADERS"? I am not so sure I can continue to count on our LEADERS much longer...But it is our fault.
I'd be tempted at this stage to sell off the TENNIS CENTER at a loss if you could find a buyer and at least save the 125,000 we are chipping in over fee's generated in less than 16 years we would have saved enough (not having the 125,000 per year additional debt, to cover the additional 2 million we originally spent.
If we continue as this year and last then we are 4 million in debt, (2 million origianally, and 125,000 X 16) NOT INCLUDING INTEREST.

What gets me though, is for probably LESS money, instead of building an expensive new development, they could have bought and restored the tennis center next to European village, and made that a thriving recreational complex, including a swimming pool!

Exactly were does that show the original 2 million capital outlay on the balance sheet?

and what about the accruing interest on that ?
Your dead On Gail that is exactly what should have been done. But NOOOO they wanted a new one.

This is exactly what I expected, anyone with half a brain expected, Including the fiends of tennis.

I can think of a few activities Id like the city to supplement.

Oh and when are thos big economy boosting superbowl like events coming?

Sad Abuse of powers and whats sadder is they are getting away with it.

Tennis Bracelet Stolen from Local Jeweler
An unidentified man entered Kay Jewelers on State Road 100 around 6 p.m. Friday, July 9.and left with a $3,000 tennis bracelet after he told the clerk he was looking to make a purchase.
The clerk told deputies the man, described as a heavy black male, asked to see a two-carat tennis bracelet for his wife. The clerk showed him a two-carat bracelet, but he wasn’t interested. She then showed him a carat-and-half bracelet, but he said he wanted something larger.
When she gave him the three carat bracelet, he ran out of the store and fled the scene.
Witnesses said the man was wearing a white and blue shirt and jean shorts. He got into a black Ford Expedition with a gold and silver bottom. The vehicle also had a large luggage rack on the roof.
Anyone with information on this incident is being asked to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 586-4801.

This prestigious award recognizes the Center's quality, well-rounded programming and instruction, league and social play, court conditions and design, charitable projects, dedication to 'Green' considerations and growing the game initiatives.

"To be nominated was a privilege, but to win the award is an unprecedented honor," says Ken Obermeier, Tennis Superintendent for the Palm Coast Tennis Center. "The award is a tribute to our passionate and active tennis community who help to make our facility such a special place in which to play."
